Fez To Merzouga Desert 2 Days / 1 Night Tour

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Cedar Forest – Atlas Mountains – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
Your adventure begins early in the morning as you depart Fez toward the Merzouga Desert. Along the way, you’ll pass through Ifrane, often called “the Switzerland of Morocco,” before continuing through the scenic Cedar Forest — the largest in the country — where you may spot Barbary apes in their natural habitat.

As you travel through the Middle and High Atlas Mountains, the landscape gradually shifts toward desert terrain. You’ll pass through Errachidia and the lush Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views and photos along the way. The journey continues through welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud and Rissani, the cradle of the Alaouite dynasty — Morocco’s current royal family.

Upon arrival in Merzouga, you’ll meet your camel guide for a trek across the golden dunes. Enjoy photo stops and a breathtaking sunset from the top of a dune before reaching your desert camp, such as Dihya Desert Camp or a similar one. Spend the evening under the starry Sahara sky, listening to traditional drums and perhaps glimpsing the Milky Way.

Day 2: Merzouga Desert – Errachidia – Fez
Wake up early to witness a magnificent sunrise over the dunes (optional). After breakfast at the camp, return to Merzouga either on camelback or on foot, as you prefer. Then begin your journey back to Fez, retracing the same scenic route through the Atlas Mountains — unless you choose to fly from Moulay Ali Cherif Airport to Fez or Casablanca.

Your unforgettable Sahara adventure concludes with drop-off at your hotel in Fez.
